  • SHORT SUMMARY OF THE THESIS:

Heretofore several position based routing protocols have been developed for mobile ad hoc networks. Many of these protocols like HGRID, GHLS, GLS, GrLS, KCLS assume that ‌a location service is available which provides location information for the nodes in the network.‌ In this research, two‌ methods‌ have presented for performance improvement of location service ‌ in regard to location management overhead, query success rate and data delivery rate. ‌ Simulation results show that the methods have decreased location management overhead and they have‌ improved query success rate and data delivery rate . H2SaLAM ‌ ‌ uses a dynamic hierarchy between location servers such that ‌solves ping-pong problem between rings. SHGRID ‌‌‌‌using one hop chain technique has prevented ‌ decreasing of data delivery rate and it has increased ‌ the ‌delay experienced by data packets. All of methods use location prediction method, near to destination‌ ‌. Totally simulation results show that our methods are effective.
